Exclusively for ITALIAN and FOREIGN athletes that are no-member of a Swim or Triathlon federation it is necessary to be in possess of a valid medical certificate.

The Sports Association TriO Eventi S.S.D., sponsored by: Regione Liguria, Province of Savona, City of Spotorno, Gulf of the Island, Marine Protected Area of Bergeggi and Environment Department, organizes the 7th edition of SWIMTHEISLAND, that will be held on Saturday October, 7th and Sunday October, 8th 2017, at LIDO DI TORRE beach in Bergeggi.

To participate, each swimmer must be:
“ATHLETE” – to be registered to a Swimming or Triathlon Federation (membership valid for 2018)
AMATEUR – (presenting a valid Medical Certificate) The Medical Certificate (required for sport events in Italy) shall be stamped and signed by an official Doctor. The template of the Medical Certificate can be downloaded on the registration page from the website.
In any case, the certificate shall be valid for the date of the race. Participants without a valid certificate, will not take part in the races. The certificate must be sent by mail to: email@example.com after the registration.
There will be several prizes represented by sport equipment’s or other products.
Each of the three races (Short Swim – Main Swim – Long Swim) will include prizes “in goods and products” as indicated in the table below:
The cash prize money is quantified at 2,200.00€ so distributed among the winners of the competitions:

The race package, which includes personalized silicone swim cap, official race gadget, products provided by the sponsors, the event program book, a ticket for the bag storage, refreshment, supervision and assistance during the race.
No registration fee will be refunded.
In case of inability to participate: if you notify it to the organization no later than September 20th, 2018 (email@example.com) you can keep the registration for the next edition with the addition of 5.00 € for administration costs. The transferred registration is not transferable to third parties.
It is possible to make athlete replacements no later than the registrations closing date (September, 30th and October, 1st 2018)
The organization has the right to change the race courses or limiting access, in case of adverse weather conditions.
In addition to the goody bag, each participant will receive the following services:
Chip for electronic timing must be returned in perfect condition upon arrival from the race. Staff members will take from each arrived (for all race distances) and check the status of the equipment. If the participant is unable to return the chip or it is damaged it will be charged by the Organization, the total cost of the equipment: 15€ for the chip.
For Saturday races, the rescue buoy can be returned to the organization with the refund of 3,00€. Alternatively each participant can hold the buoy for himself.
A refreshment is provided for the 6.0 km distance, along the middle phase of the race.
Refreshments / buffet at the finish (beach LIDO DI TORRE Bergeggi) for all participants.
There will be provided and possible refreshments/supplies along the way. The Boats Assistance will be provided with drinks, water and energy bars to support swimmers, if they feel the need.
Technical assistance along the route of the race: medical care and security, assistance are guaranteed throughout the itinerary, with fixed points along the course and, at the finish area, with Mobile Units available in case of emergency.
For any emergency or distress in the sea by the participants, the person will have to raise up his hand, to signal the need for immediate assistance.
KID’s race – 100/200/400m: children from 6 to 12 years old (born from the year 2012 to the year 2006) can participate. Children can participate both with a swim or triathlon membership card or as amateurs. In the latter case, they must submit a medical certificate of good health on the day of the competition or send it to the organization before the event at the address firstname.lastname@example.org
Family/Team, Sprint Challenge e MWM Relay races – 800m: Children from 10 years old (born from the year 2008) can participate. Children can participate both with a swim or triathlon membership card or as amateurs. In the latter case, they must submit an AGONISTIC medical certificate for swimming or triathlon under validity. The certificate can be presented on the day of the competition or sent to the organization before the event at the address email@example.com
Short race – 1800m: Children from 10 years old (born from the year 2008) can participate. Children can participate both with a swim or triathlon membership card or as amateurs. In the latter case, they must submit an AGONISTIC medical certificate for swimming or triathlon under validity. The certificate can be presented on the day of the competition or sent to the organization before the event at the address firstname.lastname@example.org. Minors can only participate by submitting written permission from one of their parents.
Classic race – 3500m: minors from 14 years old (born from the year 2004) can partecipate. They can only attend this distance if they are member of a swim or triathlon federation. Amateur minors are not accepted. Minors can only participate by submitting written permission from one of their parents.
Long race (and Combined race) – 6000m: Minors can not participate in these distances. Only athletes who have reached the age of majority will be accepted.
MINORS: the minor participants who intend to distance 1.8km and 3.5km (within the age limits allowed by the regulation) must submit a written authorization signed by the parent. DOWNLOAD HERE the authorization and send it to email@example.com
If the event organizer feels it necessary to suspend or cancel the event while swimmers are in the water, the following procedure will be applied:
• Safety staff will use whistles to attract the attention of all swimmers.
• Swimmers must stop and follow the instructions provided by the safety staff.
• This may include a partial or full evacuation to land.
• All swimmers MUST go to the finish point for an entrant roll call.

KID’sTHEISLAND – Distance 100 / 200 / 400 mt (age 6 to 12 )
Distances will be defined by the organization (between 100m / 200m / 400m) based on the weather and sea conditions and numbers of participants, according to the following categories.
Briefing to the kids will be held at 11:45 in the starting area.
Start is set at 12:00
Arrival will be at LIDO DI TORRE beach in Bergeggi, after making the rounds of the buoy and the return, which ends under the arrival arch.
FAMILY / TEAM EVENT – Distance 800 m
Briefing will be at 1:45 pm approximately
Start is set at 2:00 pm approximately
Teams will consist of a minimum of 2 people to a maximum of 3 swimmers and (at least a woman must be included in the team).
Ranking will be based on the time of the last swimmer from its TEAM and the first three TEAM will be awarded.
Arrival will be at LIDO DI TORRE beach in Bergeggi. Participants will swim after making the rounds of the buoy the return that ends under the arrival arch.
SPRINT CHALLENGE – Distance 800 m
Briefing will be at 2:45pm
Start is set at 3:00pm
The race consists of a series of qualifying (maximum 20 swimmers each) and a final race, which can access the top 5 in each qualification only.
The arrival will be at LIDO DI TORRE beach in Bergeggi. Participants will swim after making the rounds of the buoy the return that ends under the Arrival arch.
MWM RELAY – Distance 800 m
Briefing will be at 3:45 pm approximately
Start is set at 4:00 pm approximately
Each RELAY must be composed of three persons, as follows:
– 2 men
– 1 woman
Relays posted differently from these criteria will not be included in the ranking.
The route will be carried out in full by each member of the relay team. The exit from the swim course will be at the Australian way: the first athlete enters in the water, he covers the entire path, goes out of the water and runs to the cage placed in the middle between the entry and exit from swimming. Here the second component of the relay will wait for the first athlete. The two athletes will have to exchange the chip, positioning it correctly.
The second athlete will travel the same route, will be out of the water, again reach the cage where the third athlete will be waiting for the chip exchange. The third component will finish the race.
SUNDAY OCTOBER 7th, 2018
SHORT SWIM– Distance 1.8 km
The briefing will be at 9:40 am.
The start is set at 10.00 am.
Participants will be aligned on the start-line only a few meters from the shoreline. The start will be given from the beach.
The START will be valid just after the start signal, after the countdown, given by the speaker.
The briefing will clarify safety rules and the track.
The arrival will be at LIDO DI TORRE beach in Bergeggi. Participants will swim after the buoy and will turn around the middle buoy X2 placed in front of the island.
MAIN SWIM – Distance 3.5 km
The briefing will be at 11:40 am.
The start is set at 12:00 pm.
Competitors will be aligned on the start-line only a few meters from the shoreline. The start will be given from the beach.
The arrival will be at LIDO DI TORRE beach of Bergeggi. Participants will follow the path around the island for one lap clockwise.
LONG SWIM – Distance 6.0 km
The briefing will be at 1:15 pm.
The start is set at 1:45 pm. The organization reserves the right to postpone the start.
Competitors will be aligned on the start-line only a few meters from the shoreline, through a tape and the start signal will be given from the organization boat.
The start and arrival will be at LIDO DI TORRE beach in Bergeggi. The swimmers will do the first part of the track around the island until the buoy X2. After that they will return on the same path heading to the buoy X1 and swim around the island for two laps in total. The arrival will be always on the beach passing under the arrival arch.
COMBINED RACE – Distance 1.8 + 6.0 km
ONE swimmer can participate to the SHORT SWIM (starting at 10:00 am) and then start the LONG SWIM at 1:45 pm.
TEAM (Only for the races on Sunday)
Swimmers can participate as a TEAM and take part in the Challenge of the TEAM (Sunday Events).
The Team can be a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 7 members.
The condition is that all three races distances are covered by at least one member of the TEAM. The teams posted differently from these criteria will not be included in the ranking.
The 3 best times will be added for each TEAM (on each of the 3 races) in order to generate the ranking list of the teams.
The swimmer (or their parents/guardians) takes full responsibility for their participation.
The organizers cannot be held responsible for thefts, damages or accidents before, during or after the event both in the race village and in the parking areas.
The organization takes no responsibility for accidents taking place along the swimming course due to the natural conditions of the sea (shallow rocks…). Nor does the organization take responsibility for accidents caused by incompetence, negligence or poor signaling.
The organization guarantees that all the appropriate safety equipment and measures are in place.
It is the responsibility of the participant to decide whether they should abandon or continue in the event.
The organization takes no responsibility for violations to current national and regional water and beach regulations made by participants or their companions.
The organization, its sponsors and collaborators take no responsibility for the actions of swimmers and their companions that may lead to claims/lawsuits by third parties.
The use of the WETSUIT is ALLOWED and OPTIONAL (Required only if the water temperature is below 16°)
The competitors who will “cut” the itinerary, particularly in the Protected Marine Area (zone A), without passing externally to the official buoy in that area will be disqualified (control Officers and Security can take them away the number).
All the competitors that will not pass though the checkpoints along the path of Swimtheisland 2018 will be also disqualified.
Maximum admitted time to perform the SHORT SWIM is 90 min.
Maximum admitted time to perform the CLASSIC SWIM is 150 min.
Maximum admitted time to perform the LONG SWIM is 210 min.
All finishes take place under the inflatable finish arch.
The racer number will be applied on the back of the hand.
The marking consists of visual inspection for every swimmer who accesses the
starting area. The staff will verify that each swimmer is equipped with the COMPULSORY equipment for starting the race.
This IS for ALL THREE DISTANCES IN PROGRAM.
Each swimmer MUST wear the following equipment (provided during Registration):
CAP (the color identifies the race: YELLOW for the KID’S, WHITE for the SPRINT/TEAM/FAMILY/MMW RACE, SILVER for 1.8 km, GOLD for 3.5km, LIME GREEN for 6.0Km, METAL BLUE for the COMBINED).
CHIP (on the ANKLE) for time keeping
SAFETY BUOY. Security system for all swimmers. **
** The SAFETY BUOY is a security measure used in open water competitions. Organization staff will deliver a buoy to each participant and a rope to link it to life. Bail for € 3.00 will be required for delivery of the buoy to the participants of Saturday races. Participants will be able to choose whether to hold the buoy or return it to the organization and return the € 3.00 bail. For the participants of Sunday races, buoy are included in the registration cost.
Timing CHIP HAS be RETURNED at the time of ARRIVAL. The staff will be instructed to remove any equipment after the finish line. If the participant will not have the equipment required after the race, or he returns it in bad conditions or damaged, the person will be stopped and will be required to refund the material provided.
Those who do not wear the equipment listed above may not take part in the race.
Participants are required to be in the pre-start area of each event 30 minutes before the official race time. The swim course and other pertinent information will be given at this time in Italian, English and French. Swimmers will be called to enter into the start area 5 minutes before the race begins, the notice will be given 3, 2, and then 1 minute to go. Each start of the Sunday event (1.8 km, 3.5 km and 6 km) will be divided into three sub-starts, within 5 minutes difference between them.
Every participants registered to the SWIMTHEISLAND 2018 expressly authorizes free use of fix or moving images where he/she is represented, of his/her personal information and their distribution to and through media (e.g. print or TV) for promotional or publicity purpose, present and future, related to the SWIMTHEISLAND 2018 and other sport events.
Swimmers and Associations by sending the SWIMTHEISLAND 2018 Application Form, declare that they have consciously read and they accept the rules and regulations described and published on the website: www.swimtheisland.com Anything that is not included in this document is regulated as per “International Open Water Rules issued by WOWSA 2018” and International Technical Regulations WOWSA – (downloadable from the website: www.worldopenwaterassociation.com
